Field Research

Seasonal Delineation

We examined all aspects of our research across biological seasons for each species. For bobcat, raccoon, and opossum seasons were delineated as: breeding-gestation (1 February - 31 May), parturition-young rearing (1 June - 30 September), and fall-winter (1 October - 31 January). For coyote, seasons were breeding-gestation (1 February - 31 May), whelping-pup rearing (1 June - 30 September), and fall-winter (1 October - 31 January). Lastly, for gray fox seasons were: breeding-denning (1 February - 31 May), whelping-pup rearing (1 June - 30 September), and fall-winter (1 October - 31 January).
